“The Great Reversal!”

So... Today is 12/11, and that reminds me of one of my all-time favorite verses and one of my all-time favorite preaching points, which I call “The Great Reversal!”

Revelation 12:11 is a part of a portion of Scripture that flashes forward in time and gives us a picture of how the Church defeats our ultimate enemy, Satan.

It says: “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and (because) they did not love their life even when faced with death.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭NASB‬‬ http://bible.com/100/rev.12.11.nasb

Here’s the deal... We are the “they” of this passage!  We are the Church, and this is how we win!  Not just in the future, but in and through every day, right here, right now.  All we have to do is... LIVE in the covering of the Blood of Jesus (Salvation), SHARE our Story of how Jesus has saved us and is saving, guiding and leading us day by day (Testimony), and CHOOSE to FEARLESSLY give our lives away for the Salvation of others choosing to NOT be AFRAID of anything man or this world can do to us (Selflessness).

Oh Church... if We will live out these three things, this World that we live in will truly be turned upside down, instantaneously!

But... the reality is this, “We” always begins with “Me”!  So... TODAY, I dare ya!  Live out loud this “Great Reversal” and just watch what Jesus can do with you!

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 29?

Acts 29...  as you come to the end of the book of Acts one of the things that becomes obvious is that it doesnt really come to a definitive “end...”  In other words, it’s ending itself is “open ended.”  So, what are the implications for us, for me, for the Church, for now?

As the Book of Acts “concludes,” Paul (formerly Saul, the least likely person you would ever expect to surrender his life to Jesus) has spent his life (from Acts 9 forward) traveling as much of the accessible Roman Empire as he could, preaching the Gospel, proclaiming Jesus as the Messiah, teaching the Word, planting, establishing and strengthening churches, raising up leaders, appointing elders and personally and relationally witnessing to innumerable scores of Jews and Gentiles alike, literally witnessing to anyone and any group he could get to listen.  As a man on a mission from God, he had seen it all, and had boldly and faithfully lived out God’s Word and the vision God gave him, placing his life on the line and cheating death more times than perhaps anyone (even Paul himself) could actually know.  And, at the conclusion of the Book, here he was, under House arrest, for two full years, awaiting an opportunity to appear before Caesar, not knowing what would come of it... and yet, he just tenaciously “kept on keepin’ on in Jesus,” regardless!

I think the implication is clear, this is... us, or a picture of who, what and how we are supposed to be, both as individual believers and as the Church, the Body of Christ.  That we are “Acts 29,” and that We are to daily be about Our Father’s business, taking the Word and the message of the Gospel to all those who will listen, tenaciously refusing to give up, back down or sell out, purposefully endeavoring “...to seek and to save that which was lost.” (See Luke 19:10).  But, are we?  I mean, are we really?!?  Listen, as I pointed out on the last night of the “FULL Contact!” Revival series, we have now come to the “two-minute warning,” it’s time NOW to “suck it up,” pour it all out, and leave it all on the field.

The “FULL Contact!” Community Revival at Medicine Lodge, Ks, October 8th - 11th was truly an amazing experience.  During those four days, as we looked closely at the Book of Acts, through the lense of Football, and some of the best coaches to ever touch the game, God moved among us in powerful ways.  And, as people responded they experienced an outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit in real, personal and life changing ways.  It was awesome!  Those days of Revival were gifts from God and were great moments of feeling and experiencing God’s Power, Presence, Mercy and Grace.  I personally, will never forget them.

For the last 28 Days since the revival came to an end, many of you who were a part of it have been on a journey of daily re-encountering the Book of Acts by reading a Chapter a day, choosing a verse from the Chapter that spoke to you, writing it out and then writing a few sentences to God about why or how that particular verse spoke to you personally.  Then, you took a few minutes to Pray each day and asked God for the courage to take action that was reflective of the verse that stood out to you.

I wonder how all God has moved in your life since the “FULL Contact!” Revival, and through the “28-Day Challenge?”  The reality is that if you accepted the challenge and daily spent time in God’s Word, daily interacted with God and daily prayed for the courage to take action on what you read from God’s Word, you have just begun a habit (a Spiritual Discipline) that will change the course of your life from this point forward.  And, THAT is Awesome!  This is what God created us to have, live, and daily experience with Him, a personal, intimate, living relationship with Him.

My hope and Prayer from this day forward is that this “28-Day Challenge” will become a consistent part of your daily walk with Jesus and that you will continue on daily through the rest of the New Testament, the Gospels, and then on through the Old Testament as well.  One thing is for certain, you will never regret it if you do.

Remember, this Jesus thing that we call Christianity, is a “FULL Contact” sport.  It’s not something you watch, it’s something you are... Your goal is to daily live in the “Two-Minute Warning,” giving all that you know of yourself to all that you know of God.  Keeping it real, not religious.  Leaving it ALL on the field.  Putting your WHOLE heart into this game of life.  Remember, the “best” with Jesus is not behind you, it’s always still to come, so keep on keepin’ on in Jesus, no matter what, no matter where, no matter how.  So that, it may be known of your life and your walk with Jesus that you were one of “Those... who have turned the world upside down...” in Jesus Name! (Acts 17:6)

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 28

Acts 28:23-24 “And when they had set a date for him, they came to him at his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the Kingdom of God, and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.  And some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe.”

Thank You for these verses, Lord.  Thank you for the reality that some will hear and receive and others... will not.  Help me, Lord, to be one whom You use powerfully to communicate the good news of the Gospel.

Grant me, Lord, if it be Your Will, multiple opportunities to speak, write, explain and testify about the Kingdom of God.  Empower me with and through Your Holy Spirit to use Your Word to persuade others about Who You really are.  Open Your Word to me, Lord, and use me to open Your Word to others.

Truly, Lord, do with me what You will...  I’ll go wherever You call me to go.  I’ll do whatever You call me to do.  I’ll speak whatever You call me to speak.  And, I’ll be whoever You Call me to be. Let my life make an eternal difference in Your Name.

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 27

Acts 27:22-25 “And yet now I urge you to keep up your courage, for there shall be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.  For this very night an Angel of The God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul: you must stand before Caesar: and behold, God has granted you all those who are sailing with you.’  Therefore, keep up your courage, men, for I believe God, that it will turn out exactly as I have been told.”

Draw me close, Lord, and create a desire in my heart to draw closer to You than I have ever been.  Let me be so close to You that I know exactly what to say and exactly when to say it. Use me, Lord, to awaken Your people to the Spiritual reality that surrounds them, and the eternity that awaits them.

Speak to me, Lord.  Help me to be a man who hears and heeds Your Word. Give me clear instruction and help me to take bold, decisive and effective action.

Empower me, Lord, to be a timely encourager of men, and of all who will open their hearts to Your Will, Your Word and Your Spirit.  Let me be one who hears from You and who believes it will all turn out exactly according to Your Word.  Let my voice be a voice of godly direction, instruction and encouragement in the midst of whatever storm or circumstances may be raging all around.

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 26

Acts 26:13 “...At midday, O King, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining all around me and those who were journeying with me.”

Acts 26:19 “Consequently, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision...”

Acts 26:28 “And Agrippa replied to Paul, ‘In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian.”

Thank You, Lord, for the Power of Your Blood, and the free gift of Salvation it has bought for all who will believe.  Thank You for all of the ways that You pursue us and find us, no matter where we are, how we hide, or how fast or far we try to run.  Thank You, Lord, for Your relentless pursuit of us!  Thank You for not giving up on us!  Thank You!

And, thank You, Lord, for the Power of Testimony!  Thank You for how what we ourselves have been through and our own personal experience of You can resonate so clearly in the hearts and minds of those whom You give us opportunity to share with.

Help me, Father, to be a witness who transparently lays it all out there.  Help me, Lord, to use every opportunity You give me to the fullest extent possible.  Let my life make the difference You desire for it to make.  I surrender all of me, to all of You!

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 25

Acts 25:23 “And so, on the next day when Agrippa has come together with Bernice, amid great pomp, and had entered the auditorium accompanied by the commanders and the prominent men of the city, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought in...”

Thank You, Father, for all of the ways You set the stage and arrange circumstances.  Every day, Lord, and in and through every situation, You, and You alone, are in control.  Thank You for the moments You have given me to speak and to share Your Word.

Thank You for the times I have had opportunity to stand.  Let There be more, Lord, and prepare me fully for those times.  Make me continuously aware of Your arrangement of circumstances.  Give me confidence that all is as You have arranged and that Jesus is always the answer.  Show me how to speak of, and live for, Jesus, in and through each and every moment I encounter.

Use me, Lord.  Use me!

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-day Challenge, Day 24

Acts 24:5 “For we have found this man a real pest and a fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.”

Acts 24:25 “And as he was discussing righteousness, self control and the judgement to come, Felix became frightened and said, ‘Go away for the present, and when I find time, I will summon you.’”

Make me a “pest,” Lord!  Let me be a “pest” in Your Name, in Your Word, and in the Path that You lead me down.  Fill me with tenacity, and empower me with Your Holy Spirit in such a way that in You, and through You, I refuse to back down.

Give me Your Words, Lord, in times of conversation, conflict, and confrontation.  Let Your Word be that which guides all that I do in and through every situation I encounter.  Make me to be ready at all times to give a defense of the faith.

Speak to me, and through me, Lord.  Show me how to inspire Your people to be, become and to do all of that which You have created and saved them to be, to become and to do.  Use me God to help others find their way to You, and to all that You have in store for them.

Give me a heart for Holiness, Lord.  As I share the Gospel and Your message of Salvation, use me to be a proclaimer of righteousness, Holiness, Complete Surrender and the Freedom that Your Spirit can bring.  Shape my life to be a genuine example, and mold me into the man that You have saved me to be.

Let Now be the time for a New Great Awakening!  In this time, Ignite in Your people a hunger for Holiness and for the Complete Freedom that only Your Spirit can bring.

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 23

Acts 23:1 “And Paul, looking intently at the Council said, ‘Brethren, I have lived my life with a perfectly good conscience before God up to this day.’”

Acts 23:11 “But on the night immediately following, the Lord stood at his side and said, ‘Take courage; for as you have solemnly witnessed to My cause at Jerusalem, so you must witness at Rome also.’”

Thank You, Jesus, for the forgiveness of sins!  Thank you for the fact that Your blood cleanses us from all of our sins, and that the past is truly, irretrievably... the past.  Empower me, Lord, in the now, and in this present moment, to live like a man ablaze with Your Holy Spirit.  Empower me to be a bold witness, with a perfectly good conscience before both God and man.

Thank You, Lord, for ALL of the times I have known and felt Your presence.  And, thank You even for all of the times I have not, and yet, You have been there.  Thank You!  Truly, Lord, You have never failed me.  Even when I have stood completely alone, You have always been there, encouraging me, standing with me, speaking both to, and through me.  Thank You Jesus, for Your faithfulness.

“FULL Contact!” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 22

Acts 22:6-7 “And it came about that as I was on my way, approaching Damascus about Noontime, a very bright light suddenly flashed from heaven all around me, and I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, Why are you persecuting Me?’ ”

Thank You so much, Lord, for the experience of conversion, and the unexplainable power of testimony!  Thank You for the gift of Salvation, and Thank You for the Transformation that it brings!  Truly, Lord, Thank You!!!

Help me, Lord, to communicate effectively and faithfully, the message of the Gospel.  Empower me, Lord, to do so in such a way that the people to and with whom I speak, desire also Your free gift of Salvation, and a transformational and personal experience of a relationship with You.

Use me, Lord!  Use me, my testimony, and every aspect of my life and relationship with You, to communicate the Truth of Your Word, a clear presentation of the Gospel, and to bring about the Salvation and transformation of as many of those who hear as possible.

Acts 21:14 “And Since he would not be persuaded, we fell silent, remarking, ‘The will of the Lord be done.’ ”

Resolute...  Keep me resolute, Lord.  Let me know the certainty of Your calling, Your leading, and Your Word.  No matter who might try to persuade me in some other direction, and no matter what the consequences of obedience might be, keep my focus on You, on whom You have called me to be, and on that which you have called me to do.

Thank you, Father, for those You have raised up to be a part of the Watchman Evangelism Ministries Team!  Please continue to raise up, and call out, men, women, and young people Lord, who are willing to travel and invest their time in ministry in churches and in communities in which I am given opportunities to preach and serve.

Create, God, a team from all over the State of Kansas that desire to be available to be used in ministry through testimonies, worship, music, prayer, altar ministry and presence.  Then, Lord, use us as conduits of your power and grace to help carry and facilitate relationships, renewal and revival.  Show us, Lord, what only You can do!

Acts 19:11 “And God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul.”

I give my hands to You, God.  Use my hands for good.  Empower them, Lord. Let my hands be Sanctified completely for Your use.

Flow through me and my hands, Lord.  Use me to help people surrender fully to the Power of Your Holy Spirit and Your Sanctifying Grace.  And... please, God, let mighty miracles happen as I lay hands on people and pray for them in Jesus Name.

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 17

Acts 17:11 “Now these were more noble minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the Word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so.”

Acts 17:16 “Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was being provoked within him as he was beholding the city full of idols.”

Acts 17:34 “But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.”

Thank You, Lord, for those who receive Your Word and search it for themselves  in order to discover the Truth.  Bless those who seek You and help them to see You and understand Your will and Your Plan as they search for You with all of their hearts.

Help us, Lord, as we live in a culture that is increasingly pagan.  Help us to see and desire You.  Give us courage to face what needs to be faced and to walk closely with You even when surrounded by idols.

Raise up those, Lord, who will hear and believe.  Raise up followers of Jesus who will respond to the Gospel and be set free.  Use me, Lord, to declare freedom and Salvation.

Acts 16:5 “So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily.”

Strengthen the churches, Lord.  Use me as a voice to strengthen the churches.  Let both the churches where I visit and preach increase in number, but also use me to help increase the number of churches.  Use me, Lord, to help raise up pastors and church planters for such a time As this.

Thank You, Lord, for the vision you have placed on my heart.  Help me to be true to that vision.  Help me, Father, to fulfil that which You have called me to.  Use me Lord, as a Watchman.

“FULL Contact” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 15

Acts 15:9 “...and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.”

Acts 15:11 “But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.”

There is so much here in this 15th Chapter of Acts, Lord.  So much!  Thank you, Father, for every word.  Truly!

And, thank You, Lord, for the bedrock of the message of “faith” and “grace.”  Thank You, Lord, that it all comes down to this...

Ignite that message, Lord, in these days, just like you did in those days.  Let Your Word go out, carried by Your Spirit, and proclaimed to this newest generation in a way that they can grasp and cry out for in response.  Cleanse their hearts, Lord!  Save them, Lord, through the invitational beckoning of Your grace.  Let it be irresistible, Jesus!  Use me, Lord to carry this message.  Use me!

“FULL Contact” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 14

Acts 14:3 “Therefore they spent a long time there speaking boldly with reliance upon the Lord, who was bearing witness to the Word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders be done by their hands.”

Acts 14:26 “...and from there they sailed to Antioch, from which (where) they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had accomplished.”

Thank You, Lord, for Your Calling!  More than I can ever, or will ever be able to say, Thank You for the Grace You have extended to me and the Call you have placed on my Life.  Thank You!

Thank You, Father, for a sense of purpose, meaning and direction...  Thank You for the opportunities You have given me to see so many lives touched, changed and Saved by Jesus, Your Son, and to see the Miraculous Transformational Power of Your Holy Spirit.  Thank You, Lord, for all of the ways You daily, and moment by moment, speak LIGHT into the darkness!

Today, Lord, as I return to this place from which I was raised up and sent out (“commended”), help me to feel, and to walk “in” and “by” the leading of Your Holy Spirit.  And, as I reconnect with those I have not seen for many, many years, help me to faithfully carry and communicate the message that You have for Your people in Abilene, and in all of Dickinson County, Kansas.

Today, Lord, as I go “home,” empower me to speak boldly, and to rely upon You fully.  Bear witness as I speak, Holy Spirit, of all of Your available Grace, and grant that “...signs and wonders be done by...” Your hands, and available to all who need and cry out.  Let me not hinder, in any way, the fullness of that which You desire to do, and let the desires of the hearts that gather today be focused fully on You.

I need You today, Lord, I cry out to You right now, and I Trust You completely!  Let Your Will be done!

Pour out Holy Spirit!  Pour out in such a way that people just can’t help talking about You, and about what they are hearing and seeing You do!  Pour out in such a way that people gather to hear the Word in excitement and anticipation!  Pour out in such a way that Your Word, Oh Lord, spreads out and literally Covers Regions (Homes, City Blocks, Neighborhoods, Communities, Sections, Townships, Counties, States, Our Nation...).

Father, pour out Your Holy Spirit in such a way that as people become Disciples, and as Disciples personally re-encounter You and Your Word, and as they open themselves to knowing and walking in and by Your Spirit’s Power, that they are continually filled with Joy and the Holy Spirit!  It’s time, Lord, for a New Great Awakening, let it be unlike anything we have ever seen before!  Transform lives, Save Souls, Restore Relationships!  Set Free the Captives of Addiction, Abuse and Compulsion!  Bring Physical Emotional and Spiritual Healings...

Use me, Oh Lord, in any and every way You desire.  I submit my life fully to You.

“FULL Contact” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 12

Acts 12:24-25 “But the Word of the Lord continued to grow and be multiplied.  And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their mission, taking along with them John, who was also called Mark.”

Pour out Your Spirit, Lord!  Let Your Word continue to grow and be multiplied.  Bring Revival, Father!  Show us all, show me, Your Miraculous Power.  Let people see, believe, and trust...  Let a time of Awakening sweep our Nation like never before and let it start here.  Let a New Great Awakening start right here in Kansas...

Raise up a Brother, or many Brothers in Christ, Lord.  Men of God I can rely upon, and trust, and be on mission and in ministry with.  Open up opportunities to be on mission and in ministry all over the Great Plains.  Give me opportunities to also raise up and train up others to carry the message of the Gospel and to effectively and relevantly share it with others.

Let Your Will be done, Lord, and empower me to walk it out...  No matter where, no matter when, no matter what, no matter how...

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 11

Acts 11:20-21 “But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus.  And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord.”

Help me, Lord, to be one who both notices and speaks to the unlikely...  Send me to those who may seem like the least likely to listen and then grant me favor in their eyes.  Give me the words to speak to those who have no desire for You, and empower me to be used by You to reach them in Jesus Name.

Be with me, Lord, powerfully, wherever and to whomever You send me.  Empower me to help others believe, that they may turn fully to You.  Show me how, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit in such a way that I am able to connect with people in order that they will desire to meet and know You.

Empower me, Lord, to faithfully and effectively carry this message of the Gospel.  I surrender my life, my will, my plans, all to You.

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 10

Acts 10:24 “And on the following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them, and had called together his relatives and close friends.”

Acts 10:44 “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.”

Thank You Father, so much, for calling me to this ministry of Evangelism and the proclaiming of Your Word. Truly, Lord, thank You so much!

Thank you for all of the ways You have allowed me to witness and experience the outpouring of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You! Please God... do more! Pour out more of Your Spirit...

Anticipation... Expectancy... Excitement... Pour this out upon us, Lord. Let Your Spirit move in such a way that people are hungering, thirsting, longing, searching for that which they know they desperately need... Let the people You call me to reach out to, preach to, meet with, visit and encounter at events, outreaches, and revivals, be like Cornelius. Let them be so excited about what they hope You can do that they invite friends, family members, neighbors and co-workers. Fill people, Lord with the hope that comes through the consideration of what is only possible through You.

Then... Pour out upon us Lord! Pour Out! Before I speak, as I speak, and before I can even come to a conclusion or an invitation, Pour Your Spirit Out! Bring Real Revival, Lord! Bring Revival!!!

Let people find what only You can reveal. Let people see what only You can show them. Let people hear what only You can speak.

It’s time, Lord. It’s time for a New Great Awakening. Bring it to pass, Lord... Bring it to pass!

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 9

Acts 9:30 “But when the brethren learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him to Tarsus.”

Acts 9:34 “And Peter said to him, ‘Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; arise, and make your bed.’  And immediately he arose.”

Acts 9:40 “But Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed, and turning to the body he said, ‘Tabitha, arise.’  And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.”

These verses...  each one spoke to me today, Lord.

In a sense I feel as if I can relate to Saul (Paul) being sent away to Tarsus to wait... to be readied... to be drawn closer to You... to be prepared for the next calling, the next mission, the next phase of his ministry.  Draw me closer, Lord, in these days where I am, doing what I’m doing, being who, what and where You have called me to be.  Let me be fully prepared for whatever challenge, mission, opportunity or ministry You reveal.  Let these days have their full effect.  Let Your Will be done in and through me here and now. I submit myself fully to You.

For these verses about healing... Father, thank You for the healings I have seen and experienced so far.  Thank You!  Truly!  Thank You, Lord!!! Let there be more...  Give me the boldness to speak of Your healing power and to speak in Your healing power.  Use me God to Pray forth healing and... dare I write it... dare I ask... use me, please God, to speak life back into the lifeless.  Let others see Your unhindered, Miraculous Power and believe!

I know You can do all things, and that I (in You) can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Let Your Will, Your purpose, Your Plan be done fully in and through my life.

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 8

Acts 8:4 “Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the Word.”

Acts 8:39 “And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the Eunuch saw him no more, but went on his way rejoicing.”

It’s amazing to me, Lord, how You scatter us...  How we find ourselves nowhere and yet everywhere and somehow You are leading us, guiding us, directing us...  Thank You!

Give me the words Lord, in every place you send me and with every person you send me to.  Pour out upon me Your Spirit and a willingness to go, to speak, to be, and to be used by You...

With whatever time I have on this earth and in this life, let it all be poured out for You...

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 7

Acts 7:55-56 “But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God; and he said, ‘Behold, I see the heavens opened up and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’ ”

Fill me, Lord, with ever more of Your Holy Spirit.  Let my gaze be fixed consistently upon You and intently into Heaven.

Show me Your Glory, Oh Lord.  Help me to live for Jesus’ approval no matter what Man may say or do.  Empower me, God, to fulfill the mission for which you put me on this earth.

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 6

Acts 6:4 “But we will devote ourselves to Prayer, and to the ministry of the Word.”

Acts 6:10 “And yet they were unable to cope with the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.”

Focus...  Bring focus to me Lord.  Focus like never before.

Help me to be a man who is wholly devoted to prayer, and to the living practice of Your Word.  Make me a willing and cheerful doer of all that I read and understand about You from Your Word.  Help me to, as personally as possible, experience the living Jesus in and through seeking You in Prayer and engaging and seeking to live out what Your Word reveals.

Fill me, God, with an irrefutable, faith-filled, experiential, relationship with You, and let Your Holy Spirit pour into and through me a Godly Wisdom that opens the hearts of those who hear me speak.  Use me, God.  Use me.  Use me, and help me to live fully surrendered to You, Your Will, Your Spirit and Your Word!

I love you, Jesus!

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Acts 5

Acts 5:12 & 32

5:12 “And at the hands of The Apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Portico.

5:32 “And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Oh Father, I request of you that signs and wonders would take place among Your people.  Use my hands, Lord, like you did the hands of The Apostles.

Flow through me, Lord, that people will see Your power and believe.  Raise up witnesses of Your Works and Power.  Let people see who You truly are and let Your Power be poured out in such a way that all who hear it will call upon Your Name.

Speak and Work in and through me, and teach me to walk in the mighty Power of that subtle, gentle, nudging of Your Holy Spirit that ultimately leads me to and toward opportunities of that which is truly both indescribable and unforgettable.

Mold me into an obedient servant Whom Your Spirit flows through mightily.  Empower me to be fully submissive to You, Your Spirit, and Your Word.

I love You, Father!

“FULL Contact” Acts of The Apostles” 28-Day Challenge, Day 4

Acts 4:29-30 “And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Thy bondservants may speak Thy Word with all confidence, while Thou dost extend Thy hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Thy holy servant Jesus.”

Father, thank You so much for times of adversity and challenge.  Thank You for the assurance of Your faithfulness, and the promise of your presence.

Please God, always grant me boldness in the face of opposition and adversity. Let me be used by You as a conduit of Your healing Power, Holy Word, and Miraculous Provision.  Use me Father and allow my life to make an eternal difference.

“FULL Contact” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 3

Acts 3:4-6 “And Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze upon him and said, ‘Look at us!’  And, he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.  But Peter said, ‘I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you; In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, WALK!’”

Empower me, Lord!  Empower me to be a bold witness, a forth-teller of Your truth and a proclaimer of power and healing.  Let Your Spirit flow through me in such a way that people see Jesus in me.  Help me to be a man You can count on to speak the truth clearly, contagiously and invitationally.

Bring about a New Great Awakening, and let me be a part of it.  Use me to empower Your Church to get up and walk, leap, and rejoice!

“FULL Contact” The Acts of The Apostles 28-Day Challenge, Day 2

Acts 2 / Day 2 - Acts 2:4 & 46

2:4 “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”

2:46 “And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart.”

Fill me, Lord, with Your Holy Spirit and continue to fill me day by day, that my life may be an over-flowing of your Spirit, Your Word, Your Will and Your Plan.  Use me Father to touch lives and open hearts to Your Spirit, Your Word, Your Will and Your Plan.

Help us, as the Church, to continue day by day in passionate relationship with You, Your Spirit and Your Word, and to grant us unity as a Body that we will effectively carry the message of the Gospel to a broken and hurting world.

Teach us Lord how to speak, and pour forth into and through us all of the languages we need to speak, in order to reach the culture that surrounds us.

The Acts of the Apostles “FULL Contact” 28-Day Challenge

Acts 1 / Day 1

Acts 1:7-8 “He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own Authority; But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, end even to the remotest part of the earth.”

Oh Jesus, there is so much that is going on in our world today... So much. And, though Your Word tells us how it is all ultimately going to come out in the end, what we don’t know, it seems, from moment to moment, and day to day, is just what the heck is going to happen next.

Help me, Lord, not to be one who focuses on the instability of our times, and/or the perplexities of trying to discern what “epoch” is now upon us, but to instead reside in the full acknowledgement of Your Authority, Sovereignty, and consistent and stable Presence in the midst of it all. Help me to passionately desire, to continuously receive, and to daily walk in all of that which You promise in and through the outpouring and indwelling of Your Holy Spirit.

Help me to be the witness you have created and “re-created” me to be, everywhere I am, everywhere I go, and everywhere you call me to follow You. Forgive me for the times I fail you and don’t engage with those in need around me, or when you make clear the next step and I choose an alternate path. Use me Jesus to the fullest extent that I can possibly be used. Truly, Lord, I want to be someone You can count on to go anywhere and everywhere You send me... even next door, across the street, or just some random place that you whisper to my heart while I’m driving by...

Church Planting: “A Day In The Life” Ministry Strategy

Watchman Evangelism

Church Planting "A Day In The Life" Ministry Strategy

By: Rob Schmutz

(This post describes a strategically foundational, approach to Church-planting…. If you have not yet read my post on Prayer Walking, please scroll down. In addition to praying daily for and prayer walking in your mission field, pray also for the people God is bringing you, for the people you are trying to reach and for the future of the church God has called you to plant. Then, let your prayers be accompanied by intentional actions designed to effectively build the Kingdom and strategically reach people in your mission field for Jesus.)

List your daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly approach to ministry and consider projections of potential results.

(Fill in the blanks with the name of your church plant.)

  • Every day I will make at least 10 __________________ Connections in which I meet someone in the ___________________ community or area and introduce myself and pitch the ___________________ vision, giving them my card and inviting them to the next ___________________ event.  To the best of my ability I will then follow up (text, call, note, FB message...) with each contact I make within the week.  (The potential result of this is that after every 10 days I will have connected with at least 100 people, not to mention additional connections that will come due to family and friend relationships linked to those that I have connected with.)

- Every week I will personally lead and meet with a small group / home group of 10-12 persons and intentionally identify 1-3 persons and or 1-3 couples from that group whom I can entrust to start small groups / home groups at the conclusion of the initial existing small group.  (The potential result of this will be that I will equip a small group/home group which I will lead and then identify those whom I can empower to also repeat this highly effective process.  For example, if over 10 weeks of a small group, I identify 3 key persons whom I can then entrust to start small groups of 10 to 12 and teach them to also identify 1-3 key couples or persons from their group which they encourage to then start small groups/home groups after 10 weeks...  this can get crazy, quick!)

  • Every week / month I will try to attend community meetings (city council, board of education, PTO, chamber of commerce, community development, Lion’s Club, Kiwanis Club or other civic groups, etc.) in order to stay or become aware of community needs, activities and potential ministry opportunities.

- Every week I will meet key community leaders and business owners/managers as a means of developing relationships and promoting __________________.

- Every week I will meet with and develop relationships with those persons God is revealing to me or helping me identify as potential key Human Resources for growing ____________________ and reaching more people.  I will meet them for coffee, breakfast, lunch, or whatever venue works for them in order to develop a deeper relationship with them, disciple them, and help them to be fruitful carriers of the DNA I am trying to reproduce.  As I do this, I will help them understand that what I am doing with them as their pastor, I will need them to also do as key persons within the __________________ ministry.

To the best of my ability I will always have one or two of my people with me, and I will internationally Walk my people through the 5-Step "WITH" (We Intentionally Train Harvesters) empowerment process:

1) They watch me do ministry...

2) They Help me do ministry...

3) I help them do ministry...

4) I watch them do ministry...

5) They do ministry...

Every Month: I will host "member-guest" events in which current attenders of ____________________ will be invited but will be required to invite someone else if they intend to attend:

- Guy's Movie Night

- Couple's Date Night

- Spoons Tournament

- ClayShoots

- Progressive Supper

- Escape Room

- ETC.

Seasonally/Quarterly/Every other Month: I will host large attraction events promoted through word of mouth, print materials, social media, direct mail, etc.  Similarly, if there are already existing traditional large community events, I will volunteer myself and the ____________________ church folks to participate and help.

- Movie in the park

- Swimming or Water-Park Event

- Christian Concert

- Community Christmas Candlelight svc.

- Trunk or Treat

- Fourth of July

- Free BBQ

- Etc.

So... How Do I Start A Men’s Accountability Group?

I get a lot of questions about how to start a Men's Accountability Group.  Here are a couple of great books and a basic set of accountability questions you can use.

How To Start A Men's Accountability Group:

1) Talk to a friend/brother in Christ about the idea.
2) Set a time and a recurring date (early mornings once a month works best for me).
3) Pick a place (I'm a coffee-shop / local cafe / restaurant kind of guy).
4) Show up and have breakfast, drink strong coffee, go through the questions, discuss a book designed to help you be a better man, and invest one hour a month in an accountability relationship/friendship that can greatly empower you and help your walk with Jesus.
(Don't just think about it, pray about it and talk about it... Do it!)

"As Iron Sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17

Accountability Questions For Men

1. Have you spent daily time in Scripture and prayer?
2. Have you had any flirtatious or lustful attitudes, tempting thoughts?
3. Have you exposed yourself to any explicit materials which would not glorify God? (Sexuality, Profanity, Violence, etc.)
4. Have you been honest in all of your financial dealings?
5. Have you spent quality time with friends (brothers in Christ)?
6. Have you spent focused, phone-less, alone time with your wife?
7. Have you done your best in your job/ministry?
8. Have you told any half truths or outright lies, putting yourself in a better light to those around you?
9. Have you shared the Gospel, or personally prayed for or with an unbeliever this week?
10. Have you taken care of your body through daily physical exercise and proper/adequate eating/sleeping habits?
11. Have you allowed any person or circumstance to rob you if your joy?
12. Have you lied on any of your answers today?

How To Start A Prayer Walking Ministry

Here is what I would do (and have done!):

1) Start a Prayer Walker Team.

2) Pick a consistent day and time (Sunday afternoons and/or evenings in the Summer often work well) and begin to Prayer Walk. (If at first you can't get anyone interested then you go ahead and start, take and show pictures, and talk about the people you met and talked to and the experiences you had each week at church.)

3) After each organized prayer walk have a mission debrief: "What did you see?" / "Who did you see/interact with?" / "How did God speak to you?" (You will get tons of data and info from these debrief sessions, and what you are revealing through them are the needs in your community/area that God can use you to incarnationally begin to meet.  (When I lead the "iWalk" trainings I talk the folks who show up for the training through this process.)

4) Plan on setting a goal of covering a specific area or areas that are of significance to your church and congregation.  Hang up a map and highlight the streets walked until the map is completely highlighted.  Once you achieve that goal, celebrate the accomplishment with a worship and celebration time but also use it to begin to envision and plan ministry outreaches to that area based on the "What? Who? and How?" questions above.

5) The next step is the surveying of that specific area so you can find out who you are being called to reach and what their real-life needs are.  As you collect the hard data from your target area (which you have already covered in prayer) crunch the info and follow up with incarnational ministry and outreaches to that area that you have prayed for and surveyed.  The key here is that you are letting God speak to you from and through your mission field and you are responding now in relevant ministry to these needs that have been revealed. (I can provide you a survey that is adaptable to your church or community.)

6) God will begin bringing you people through this process, and now you have got to be prepared to and begin to welcome them and help them find real connections and to help facilitate the building of relationships with others who can help them grow in their faith and their relationship with Jesus.  The real people you will be reaching truly want the church to be both relevant, and a place where they can make real connections and have real relationships.  Having and starting Small groups and Home groups that you can plug them Into is key here.

7) As your prayer walkers begin to rediscover their community through walking through it and feeling the burden of the Lord for specific areas of need or ministry possibilities, it is also important to empower them and help them begin to get involved in real ministry in these area.  This is the point where I would always start a "SWAT (Servants With Angelic Tendencies) Team."  Which was a charted breakdown of areas of ministry and need revealed through prayer walking that you can organize specific teams made up of persons with a heart for that area of need or ministry.  Then, turn them loose to be the Church through these teams.  It's a "High Trust, Low Control, with High Accountability" empowerment and I can answers specific questions about how to do this.

SWAT TEAM (team examples)

1) The Prayer Walker Team

2) Community Disaster Response Team (aka DRT or "Dirt" Team)

3) Community Crisis or Critical Incident Intervention Team

4) School & Community Outreach Team

5) Community Survey Team

6) Hospital & Home  Visitation Team

7) Addiction & Recovery Team

Etc. (The idea here is that you identify and empower teams of people to work together to meet the revealed needs in your mission field)

Then...

You repeat the process.  I have found prayer walking to be a tremendous source of inspiration, interaction and information regarding real "Jesus With Skin On" (incarnational) ministry.  And, as you empower your SWAT teams, you create a leadership factory that helps produce real people in real ministry in real ways in their community.

If I can be of any help to you or your church in any aspect of this process, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Keep on Keepin' on IN Jesus!

Forward Progress?

Forward Progress?

2 John 1:9 "Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son."

There seem to be a whole lot of folks out there today running forward as fast as they can and calling themselves "progressives" as they do.  Progressive... man, that really is a great word isn't it?

But, when someone calls themselves progressive today, it seems naturally to imply that anyone who is in disagreement with whatever they themselves might be intent about progressing forward, then... well... that person must be a... regressive, or uninformed, or unenlightened...

Personally speaking, I'm all for progress.  I love moving things forward, especially if... ultimately it involves reaching new and more people with the good news of the transformational message of the gospel.  And, if the reality of the progress involves introducing people to the power of God's Spirit and helping them find freedom from Sin, Compulsion, Addiction and whatever other kinds of bondage our world so readily offers today, then I'm all for it!

The Scripture above is a reminder to all of us who are followers of Jesus, that it's okay to run ahead, to make and to push forward for progress, if...  If we continue forward with the Word and in the teachings of Christ.  If, however, we run forward, and in so doing... abandon the teachings... we do so... without God.  But, whoever (runs forward or progresses ahead and) "...continues in the teaching, has both the Father and the Son."

And, truly, that's the progress we need as the Church as we all keep on keepin' on in Jesus!

For Tomorrow, Now

This just came to me this AM and I felt like someone might need to hear it today:

"Joshua told the people, 'Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.'" Joshua 3:5

"for tomorrow..."  How easy it is to fall into the trap of forgetting that tomorrow, through faith, is designed by God to be an amazing day.  It can so easily become our default reality to subconsciously assume that "yesterday" was a better day, and that years ago was when things were as they should be.  Sadly, we can choose to live in the false or faithless reality of believing that our best days are behind us.

Faith, however, suggests something far different.  Faith, and the reality it calls me to live in, reminds me that today I can prepare for the best that God has prepared for me in my tomorrow with Him.

Help me, Lord, to live today as a means of consecrating myself, in faith, believing that my tomorrow with You is going to bless my socks off!

"...Things which eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, nor has ever entered into the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him."  1 Corinthians 2:9

Yesterday I stood...

Since Sunday morning, I've been out here in Morton County, Kansas preaching a revival in the community of Elkhart, meeting the people, seeing the sights, and taking it all in.  And, believe me, out here in Morton County, there is a lot to see, and what you see, goes on forever and ever.

Yesterday I stood and prayed at an interesting point here in the State of Kansas.  It's a place called "Three Point" or "Eight-Mile Corner."  "Three Point" is literally in the very corner of Kansas, and is where the State lines of Kansas, Oklahoma & Colorado all come together.  There is a Survey Plate in the middle of a dusty, nondescript, country road that marks the precise location, and on the Kansas side there is an old windmill tower (the "Three State Windmill") with what looks like a "wrought-iron" weathervane with a buffalo on top of it and the words "KANS, COLO and OKLA" all pointing in their respective directions.

As I stood there in that place and looked back over my State, a State that had been home to me all of my life, and that had been home to my family ever since my Great, Great Grandfather headed west and homesteaded in Dickinson, County, back in the 1860's, in that moment I just stood there and felt the weight and significance of that place.  What swept over me at the very moment I stood there, was the realization that there were in that very instant, so many simultaneous things going on in my State.  There were "business-as-usual" or "everyday-Kansas-things" to be sure, unpredictable weather, work, chores, taxes, traffic, deadlines, road maintenance, school, life, the family hustle and bustle, the daily grind, but in this moment there was also more...  there were other things going on, heavier things happening, unsettling things taking place in that very instant... tragic things, difficult things, life threatening things, families struggling, people trying to figure out where to turn and what to do, there were property losses, community evacuations and... fires... spreading...

A sense of what I can only best call a "passionate, tragic, immediacy" hit me as I was standing there.  It was almost as if I could "see" or "feel" all of Kansas in that instant, and all spread out before me.  Though I can't fully describe what I saw, or felt, or experienced, I think it was the closest thing to what the Old Testament refers to as "The Burden of the LORD..." that I have ever experienced in my life.  And, as I felt it, I knew that God desired a Statewide Spiritual Awakening.  It was crystal clear to me.  There was absolutely no doubt in my mind.  So, right there, my good friend, Pastor Keith Davis of the Elkhart Church of the Nazarene, and I prayed for that very thing, and as we did the image that came to my mind was an image of people, Kansas people, running to a fire, a fast moving, all consuming, uncontrollable fire, a fire that was not life threatening, or property damaging, but one that was instead, Life... Giving...

There is a sign as you enter Elkhart, Kansas, that welcomes you and also reminds you of Elkhart's nickname, or moniker, if you will.  Elkhart, here in Morton, County, is known as "The Cornerstone of Kansas."  Think about that for just a second.

There was a time in the early history of Kansas when this territory and our fledgling State "to-be" was known as "Bleeding Kansas."  But, what if... Kansas, in our day, could be known as "Burning Kansas?"  Not because of destructive, out of control wildfires, but because of an outpouring of the Spirit of God as an answer to our prayers, drawing us to Him and into a future He has prepared for us.  And, (now this sounds really crazy...) what if the Spiritual fires of God's Grace, Mercy, Love, Forgiveness, Power, Passion, Holiness and Holy Spirit, ignited through our prayers lifted up here in Kansas, could lead to an all Consuming Fire of Spiritual Awakening that then swept our Nation?  Is it possible?

I think it is.  I want it to be.  I prayed for it yesterday as I prayed for our State and for a cessation of the fires that were burning, endangering and negatively impacting so much of our State and so many in so many ways.  I prayed for a New Fire, a New Great Awakening, from here at the Cornerstone of Kansas, all across our State, and... "Oh Lord let it be possible, all across our Nation.  Bring us back to you Lord.  Bring us back to You!  Whatever it takes, bring us back to You!  Bring us back to You as One Nation Under God, and let Kansas, let us, let me, play a Key Role in Your Perfect Will for Revival!  In Jesus Name, Amen!"

Living Out-loud

Is there any reason you shouldn't be living out-loud for Jesus today?

For most of us, the one thing that keeps us most effectively from living out-loud for Jesus, is fear.

Fear is an interesting thing...  it binds us up, holds us back, contains and restrains us and convinces us that we... can't.  And yet, if you think about it, fear isn't... really... even... real, it's just something going on in our brain.

Think of it, what would we do if we weren't afraid?  What might we become if not for fear?  If not for fear, what more might we dare, or do, or try, or attempt?

Today I want to dare you to choose to be unafraid.  Experiment with it in your walk with and in your witness for Jesus.  Believe today that you have been miraculously empowered by God with His power, His love, His mercy and His Grace, and that you are on this earth for a reason and... for a very limited time, and then do something about it, out-loud and in faith.

Chose today, this day, to not be afraid, and to live like you believe it to be true that Jesus is with you in every step that you take, in every encounter you have and in every word that you speak.  It is true, you know?  It's true!  This is our unique reality as followers of Jesus.

Now... all you have to do is to live it, out-loud.

So, What have you got to lose?

Today is a great day to fearlessly keep on keepin' on in Jesus!

Go for it!
